TV Shows

Max used to love cartoons. Movies like “Hoodwinked”, “Toy Story” and “Shrek”. For a while, he was also into the animated series on Disney like “Handy Manny”, “Phineas and Ferb” and “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse”. Over the summer, he has really gotten into more of the sitcom type shows on Disney like “Shake It Up”, “Good Luck Charlie” and “Wizards of Waverly Place”. There are a lot of these types of shows on Disney. I think most of the shows are geared at tweens, but Max seems to really enjoy then. The three shows I mentioned above are pretty good. It’s Disney, so the subjects are kid friendly. But there are some other shows on Disney that we don’t let him watch just yet. They seem pretty mindless and silly. There is a new show that just started called “A.N.T. Farm” that the verdict is still out on. We always seem to catch the same 2 episodes. So not sure if those are the only 2 they’ve done.

Miss my little buddy

Last night, Rachel’s parents got back into town from their vacation. So Max will be going back to Nana’s house during the day while Rachel and I are at work.  Before bed, I said to Max “hey, you get the spend tomorrow over at Nana’s. Are you excited?”

His face got a sad look on it and he said “No, can’t I just stay home with you?”.

While I was a little sad that he was apprehensive, part of me felt good. I really enjoyed being home with him last week, and it seems like he had fun and enjoyed it as well. Now I need to figure out a way to spend more time during the week with Max. I was really bummed up on Sunday night when I kissed him goodnight and realized that I would only see him for a few hours when I got home from work.

He is at such a great age right now. He’s potty trained, he is talkative and can express himself, so he can ask for what he wants or needs. He sleeps overnights, has a longer attention span, and is getting more and more self sufficient. I used to dread being home alone with Max when he was younger, especially when he was an infant, but now I really love it. Wish there was a way to freeze time and preserve hin at this age.

Catch Phrases

Max has a couple of “catch phrases” that he says on a regular basis. Wanted to document it here so I don’t forget. I hope to get either audio or video of Max saying them, but I’ll have to be sneaky. As soon as he sees my phone or a camera, he clams up.

Catch Phrases:

1) Now we’re cooking with gas…
Max uses this a lot when he’s playing a game. If he gets into a rhythm and things are going well he will say “Now we’re cooking with gas!”

2) Oh yeah, baby!
He says this when he gets excited about going someplace or doing something. Life if we are about to go to swim at Nana and Pappy house to go swimming.
Me: Max, you ready to go swimming?
Max: Oh yeah, baby!

3) Shaking my bum bum
Max says this when he hears a song he likes. He starts to dance by shaking his butt and that is usually followed by “shaking my bum bum”
